Constant change in weather takes a toll on the health, and none of us like to fall sick. Last year, winters were quite harsh and followed with frequent rains, fluctuating temperatures and strong breeze which kept people stuck to bed. And all this was not enough the spread on the pandemic Covid19 has made life worst. For this situation and in general precaution is the best possible solution and I have mention in my one the previous blogs about Corona Virus you can read here. In this blog I will be sharing with you few tips to keep immune balance in changing weather.
Let us first understand what is immunity and how it works. In biological terms immunity is the balanced state of multicellular organisms having adequate biological defences to fight infection, disease, or other unwanted biological invasion, while having adequate tolerance to avoid allergy, and autoimmune diseases. Which means the immune system is responsible for protecting the body and does a fabulous job of defending you against disease. But, sometimes it does fail and certain germs or viruses are able to invade the body to make you sick. This is when the question comes is it possible to keep immunity in check with healthy diet and lifestyle changes? My answer is yes!
What can you do to boost your immune system?
Naturopathy believes that if your immune system is good you will stay protected from general health issues. Following a healthy diet, yoga, pranayama, hast mudra, and meditation, take rest, sleep well, and stay away from stress. Trust me, there is nothing wrong with following general healthy-living strategies.
Healthy ways to strengthen your immune system.
Following general good-health guidelines is the single best step you can take toward naturally keeping your immune system strong and healthy.
These twelve steps can help support your immune system so it’s ready to fight those viruses.

Let us keep in mind that immunity cannot be improved overnight but if we keep a check on our lifestyle, eating habits and attitude we will see the difference. It is very important to have a healthy and clean stomach because then only the food that we eat will reach our cells and provide us energy. A non-healthy stomach is a very vital reason for many diseases. We should eat food that is simple and easy to digest within 2-3 hours. Apart from this one should avoid drinking water immediately before and after meals and should be consumed with a 1-hour gap. Do not drink chilled water. Food should be chewed at least 32 times. One should sit on Vajrasan before and after Lunch or dinner. The best time for dinner is before 8 pm. Another thing to keep in mind is to avoid sleeping right after dinner, there should be a gap of about 1 hour. It is advised to take a walk after dinner.
What to include in the diet to improve immunity.
Turmeric- Is a great antiseptic and antioxidant.
Ginger – It reduces your risk of diabetes and settles an upset stomach.
Black pepper- It is high in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties
Cinnamon – It is loaded with antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties
Cloves – It is high in antioxidants and kills bacteria
Carom Seed – It is powerfully antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Basil(holy) – It is good for digestion and fights free radical activity
Saffron – It is a powerful antioxidant and aids weight loss
Honey – It is Rich in Antioxidants and helps improve cholesterol
Giloy – It boosts immunity and improves digestion
Ashwagandha – It reduces blood sugar levels and cortisol levels
Aawla – It helps boost your immunity, and metabolism and prevents viral and bacterial ailments.
Orange- It keeps a healthy immune system and prevents skin damage
Dry Fruits – They also boost immunity and prevent lifestyle diseases such as cholesterol and diabetes.
Wheatgrass Juice – Wheatgrass is high in nutrients and antioxidants
These are some natural ingredients that help boost immunity. However, this is useful only if it is consumed as per our body type, for example, for people who are Pitta dominant if they consume ginger, fenugreek, garlic, etc it will be more damaging than being any good, instead, if they consume Giloy, Aamla Juice, Wheatgrass juice, will be more beneficial. So it is suggested to get a yogic diet as per your body type. Processed food, cold drink, smoking, and drinking are the enemies of the body and should always be avoided.
Stress-free living is another important aspect of good immunity and hence one should do meditation daily. As I mentioned earlier, Yoga Asan, Pranayam, and Hast Mudras should be included in the daily routine.
If you take these five steps, you’ll go a long way toward keeping your immune system healthy and ready to fight outside invaders.
