How Yoga and Meditation helps Mind and Soul

YOGA

In the Bhagwad Gita, in a treatise on yoga, Krishna tells Arjuna, “Perform action being steadfast in yoga, abandoning attachment and balanced in success and failure. Evenness of mind is called yoga.”

Just about everybody will get pleasure from yoga follow. Yoga is monopolistic and simply tailored to completely different ability levels. If you haven’t exercised for a short while, yoga are often appealing as a result of it emphasizes the standard instead of the amount of movement.

How to Start Doing Yoga at Home?

  • Clear Up Some Space. First of all, you’ll need the adequate space to practice your yoga routines. Your living room or bedroom should do nicely. You can also move out to a nearby park for more open space.
  • Set The Right Mood. Setting the mood is also important. MAke sure the environment is serene and peaceful. Yo might like to put on some calm meditation music
  • Pick Your Poses. A major difference between practicing yoga at home and at a school is that there is no teacher. For guidance get in touch with Dr. Reetu Panwar, Holistic Healing Point

We share just 12 basic postures of YOGA with you –

  • ŚĪRṢĀSANA – HEADSTAND. An āsana in which you balance on your elbows, arms and head.
  • SARVĀṄGĀSANA – SHOULDERSTAND. An inverted pose, with the body resting on the shoulders.
  • HALĀSANA – PLOUGH. A pose with hands and feet on the floor resembling a plough
  • MATSYĀSANA – FISH. Resting on the arms, arching the back and expanding the chest
  • PAŚCIMOTTĀNĀSANA – SITTING FORWARD BEND. Stretching the spine forward
  • BHUJAṄGĀSANA – COBRA. Arching the upper body and expanding the chest
  • ŚALABHĀSANA – LOCUST. Lying on the front with lifted legs
  • DHANURĀSANA – BOW. Balancing on the abdomen in the shape of a bow

Over time, yoga becomes something we live, not just something we “practice.” The inevitable pressures of life have less of an impact on us as we respond in a more conscious manner. As we become balanced and harmonious, our interactions with people and situations become more deliberate, calm, and relaxed. We bring union and harmony to every encounter, whether it’s a random meeting on the street, a talk with our child, or a family reunion. When our inner world begins to change, our outer world shifts to reflect our new perspective.

MEDITATION

Meditation is a practice where an individual uses a technique – such as mindfulness, or focusing their mind on a particular object, thought or activity – to train attention and awareness, and achieve a mentally clear and emotionally calm and stable state.

Have you ever practiced chanting “OM Shanti Shanti” just for five minutes with eyes closed and felt how relaxing it is. It clears the inner negative thoughts and fills you with so much positivity in just 5 minutes. Now think about practising it everyday for just 5 minutes and see the difference in you in a weeks time.

How to Meditate?

  • Sit or lie comfortably on a bed or on the floor. You can do this in an open area as well. Just sit or lie down on the ground.
  • Close your eyes.
  • Make no effort to control the breath; simply breathe naturally.
  • Focus your attention on the breath and on how the body moves with each inhalation and exhalation.

The goal of meditation is to focus and understand your mind—eventually reaching a higher level of awareness and inner calm.

The relaxation response from meditation helps decrease metabolism, lowers blood pressure, and improves heart rate, breathing, and brain waves,” Benson says.

Tension and tightness seep from muscles as the body receives a quiet message to relax. There’s scientific evidence showing how meditation works.
